Single Hung Windows
The most common type of windows you’re going to see out there – you can find either single-hung or double-hung windows in just about every single home out there. They’re just extremely easy to use, affordable, and still do a fantastic job of maintaining your energy efficiency, all while being easy to maintain and looking great while doing it. The #-hung part in the name just refers to the number of moving sashes that the window has that can move. A double-hung window can operate both sashes while in a single-hung window only one sash operates while the other at the top of the window sits in place and cannot be moved. Nearly all hung windows have tilting sashes that allow for easy exterior cleaning with far less work.
A Single Hung Window is Extremely Versatile
Single-hung windows are fantastic set alone or beside a number of other single-hung windows. They offer an incredible obstruction-free view that many windows just can’t emulate. You can get a fantastic amount of ventilation in through your open bottom sash. Since these windows all open flush they are absolutely perfect for patios and walkways – they won’t get in the way or offer any obstruction outdoors.
Incredibly Energy Efficiency Windows
Energy efficiency is a huge selling point of any window replacement – and single-hung windows actually hold the edge in this category. Since only one sash can operate, you have a very tight seal around that top sash which works hard to keep your nice air in and the outside air out. For a window that still operates, you won’t be able to find much better than a single-hung window.

What Style Homes does a Single Hung Window Look Good on?
Just like a double-hung window, single-hung windows look fantastic on truly just about any style of the modern American home. Depending on the style of your home you may want to go for a grid pattern in your windows which helps add some pop and a custom touch, but you can generally expect these windows to look fantastic across the board.
