Position Overview
Odyssey Contracting is seeking a Sales Representative to generate and close high-quality residential construction projects, including remodels, additions, decks, porches, roofing, and specialty projects. This role owns the front end of the customer journey—from first appointment through signed contract and clean handoff to Production.
This is not an order-taker role. The Sales Rep is a consultative professional who can lead homeowners through scope definition, budgeting, value positioning, and decision-making while protecting Odyssey’s margins and brand.
Core Responsibilities
Lead Management & Appointments
- Receive and manage inbound leads from marketing, referrals, and outbound efforts.
- Schedule and run in-home sales appointments.
- Qualify homeowners based on project fit, budget, timeline, and decision-makers.
- Educate homeowners on Odyssey’s process, expectations, and standards.
- Disqualify poor-fit leads early to protect company resources.
Scope Development & Estimating
- Capture accurate project scopes, measurements, photos, and homeowner requirements.
- Review plans, sketches, or conceptual ideas with homeowners.
- Develop clear, detailed scopes of work aligned with Odyssey standards.
- Work with internal teams on pricing, takeoffs, and feasibility when required.
- Ensure estimates reflect proper margins, overhead, and risk considerations.
Proposal Presentation & Closing
- Present proposals professionally and confidently.
- Lead pricing conversations with clarity and conviction.
- Handle objections related to cost, timing, and scope.
- Secure signed contracts and required deposits.
- Maintain deal momentum and avoid stalled opportunities.
Client Experience & Communication
- Set clear expectations on schedule, process, and communication.
- Act as the primary point of contact until handoff to Project Management.
- Maintain a premium, professional client experience.
- Avoid over-promising or misrepresenting scope, timeline, or cost.
- Protect Odyssey’s reputation through disciplined communication.
CRM & Documentation
- Maintain accurate lead, opportunity, and job data in the company CRM.
- Upload notes, photos, measurements, scopes, and signed agreements.
- Track pipeline stages and follow-up tasks consistently.
- Ensure clean handoff documentation for Project Managers.
- Participate in pipeline reviews and sales meetings.
Internal Collaboration
- Work closely with Project Managers, Supervisors, and Operations.
- Participate in job handoff meetings as required.
- Coordinate with Marketing on lead quality and feedback.
- Support leadership with sales forecasting and reporting.
- Represent the voice of the customer internally.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of sales experience, preferably in construction, remodeling, or home services.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to read plans, understand scopes, and visualize construction work.
- Comfortable discussing budgets, pricing, and investment value.
- Strong organizational skills and follow-through.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to appointments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience selling residential construction projects $25k–$500k+.
- Familiarity with construction estimating and job costing concepts.
- Experience using construction CRMs and proposal tools.
- Background in remodeling, additions, roofing, or specialty trades.
- Proven track record of closing high-value projects.
